ABOUT US

Back to Pack Rescue Shelter (BPR)  strives to prevent re-homing of dogs. To us that means putting in the work that needs to be done to train dogs in obedience and exposing them to different situations. Our goal is to adopt dogs that are well balanced and ready for a home that will be compatible with their unique personality. BPR is the first shelter in Winnipeg to house-train dogs before they are given up for adoption. This requires a lot of work from our staff, but it is worth all the time knowing that these dogs will stay with one pack family for their entire life.

Adoption Process

  1. Meet the Dog– You may meet one of our dogs by appointment only. We ask that everyone living with the pet attend the meeting. Also if you have any existing animal you can bring them so they can meet during this time.
  2. Home check– We like to see our dogs will be in a safe and secure environment before they are adopted.
  3. Adoption Contract– Next you will sign the adoption contract which is a legal binding contract between the adopter and organization.
  4. Transition of Care– Finally we will give training on how to care for the dog and give you the three most important rules to follow when caring for your dogs.

Adoption Fees

  1. Dogs under 1 year- $950 plus tax
  2. Dogs over 1 year- $650 plus tax

Rehbilitation Process

  1. Initial Assessment – Our first assessment of your dog will be in your home in the dogs environment. From this we can make a specific care plan for the dog. Every dog has a different care plan and is based specifically on their breed, personality, and upbringing. This assessment is usually approximately 1 hour. We charge $50 plus tax for the assessment and will never charge more if the assessment takes longer.
  2. Rehabilitation – After this a care plan will be made for the dog and shared with the family. This will be well in advance before the dog is rehabilitated. As we have a waiting list it may be a month before the dog is rehabilitated. An appointment will be booked and is always at least 5 days and this includes overnight stay of the dog. Dogs must stay overnight and have continuing care for their rehabilitation process. Food, crate, and muzzle (if applicable) must be provided by owner for these days.
  3. Follow-up – On the final day your pet will return home and we will do a follow-up teaching. After the process is complete we give the family all the information and triggers to be able to continue the rehabilitation with the dog. Rehabilitation changes the dogs behavior drastically, but it is the owners responsibility to continue with the plan of care. We charge $80 plus tax for the follow-up teaching.

*We have included an example of one of our care plans on the first and fifth day. You will receive a evaluation everyday by email and phone.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY ABOUT US

If you follow Andrew on Instagram, he will post puppies that he has rescued. That’s how we fell in love with Misty. When the puppy is ready to be adopted, Andrew has the potential adoptees come and visit the puppy and shows the kind of training he does, which is amazing! From listening to commands such as sitting to being house trained, you can see the dedication and compassion he puts into his work. His training wasn’t all about dominance, but more about trust and love. When you look into a puppy’s (or an adult dog) eyes and they look into yours; you feel a connection. Quite hard to explain, however, you just know when you have a connection. From getting Misty in August 2018 to now; Andrew has always been open to any questions or “what to do and not do” and as well seeing his training @barklodge to dog moms/dads; Andrew continues his support. Misty even remembered Andrew after three months of not seeing him! Overall, we suggest Back to Pack Rescue if you are looking for a rescued puppy because like I said, Andrew’s training is amazing and when “you look into a puppy’s eyes, you just know”.Thanks Andrew!!!!

Andrew is a very special animal hero. We just adopted Kaylee and she is perfect. Andrew rescued, loved and trained our puppy so well that our young children are able to do the 'tricks' with her. A big 5 stars for Andrew and B2P Rescue! I recommend for anyone looking to adopt the perfect family member!!!!
