ABOUT US

Back to Pack Rescue Shelter (BPR) strives to prevent re-homing of dogs. To us, that means putting in the work that needs to be done to train dogs in obedience and exposing them to different situations. The methods that we use are fear free and we follow the guidelines of fear free pets (www.fearfreepets.com). BPR also house trains dogs before adoption and this includes potty and crate training. This requires a lot of work from our trainers, but it is worth all the time knowing that these dogs will stay with one family for their entire life.

LEARN MORE

Adoption Process

  1. Meet the Dog– You may meet one of our dogs by appointment only. We ask that everyone living with the pet attend the meeting. Also if you have any existing animal you can bring them so they can meet during this time.
  2. Home check– We like to see our dogs will be in a safe and secure environment before they are adopted.
  3. Adoption Contract– Next you will sign the adoption contract which is a legal binding contract between the adopter and organization.
  4. Transition of Care– Finally we will give training on how to care for the dog and give you the three most important rules to follow when caring for your dogs.

Adoption Fees

  1. Dogs under 1 year- $950 plus tax
  2. Dogs over 1 year- $650 plus tax

Rehbilitation Process

Since most of our dogs are rescued from traumatic situations, some unfortunately develop behavior problems. These dogs can sometimes take more time to train/rehabilitate. We take pride in using no fear techniques when helping the dogs get through their fears and phobias. Some of the methods we use are:

  • Counter conditioning
  • Disengagement
  • Differential reinforcement
  • Desensitizing
  • FAS Scale (the spectrum of fear, anxiety, and stress)

These dogs are always placed in suitable homes with people who have experience with behavior problems. Contact us if you would like to be part of the rehabilitation team for fostering or adoption!

Dog Training

Just like people, every dog is unique in their own way and requires different training strategies. All training for our rescues are done using fear free methods. Some of these training methods and strategies include:

  • paired cues
  • recall cues
  • disengagement
  • differential reinforcement of incompatible behavior
  • positive reinforcement
  • luring

We are also adamant about teaching the families about which methods work best for the dogs. This allows for their continued success throughout the dogs entire life.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY ABOUT US

If you follow Andrew on Instagram, he will post puppies that he has rescued. That’s how we fell in love with Misty. When the puppy is ready to be adopted, Andrew has the potential adoptees come and visit the puppy and shows the kind of training he does, which is amazing! From listening to commands such as sitting to being house trained, you can see the dedication and compassion he puts into his work. His training wasn’t all about dominance, but more about trust and love. When you look into a puppy’s (or an adult dog) eyes and they look into yours; you feel a connection. Quite hard to explain, however, you just know when you have a connection. From getting Misty in August 2018 to now; Andrew has always been open to any questions or “what to do and not do” and as well seeing his training @barklodge to dog moms/dads; Andrew continues his support. Misty even remembered Andrew after three months of not seeing him! Overall, we suggest Back to Pack Rescue if you are looking for a rescued puppy because like I said, Andrew’s training is amazing and when “you look into a puppy’s eyes, you just know”.Thanks Andrew!!!!

Andrew is a very special animal hero. We just adopted Kaylee and she is perfect. Andrew rescued, loved and trained our puppy so well that our young children are able to do the 'tricks' with her. A big 5 stars for Andrew and B2P Rescue! I recommend for anyone looking to adopt the perfect family member!!!!
